possible storm3 RIM to Move Ahead with a QNX based BlackBerry Storm3? There are more rumors emerging about the BlackBerry Storm3, this time it’s about the operating system and some minimal hardware specs that might make it onto the device. As we told you before, RIM was scrapping the BlackBerry Storm2 refresh and now some new information saying that it was in fact going to be released and at the last minute RIM decided that it was in thier best intrest to not release the refresh just to push BlackBerry 6 on the Storm2.

It appears that RIM had decided to not release the device and look at coming up with a device that will be on par with other offerings out there currently like the Andorid devices. Thats where the BlackBerry Storm3 comes in, back during DevCon 2010 a RIM VP said the a QNX based OS which would be released as BlackBerry 7 a hybrid of the RIM’s current OS and QNX. It appears that RIM is farther along with the QNX operating system then what was first thought, remember when RIM’s Founder and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis showed off a working BlackBerry PlayBook during the Adobe MAX 2010 conference?

The BlackBerry Storm3 would lose SurePress altogether in favor of  a capacitive touch screen similar to the one on the BlackBerry Torch. Some of the minimum hardware specs would be a 1Ghz processor, 1Gb RAM, and 8Gb of ROM. No mention if is would indeed sport a larger touch screen.

As the rumors start ramping up on the BlackBerry Storm3 everything should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is starting to sound as if RIM is in the right ballpark, and it could be a killer device if RIM does it right. I hope RIM starts acknowledging that this device is out there and give us some sense on the specs and when they would release it.

Would you wait for a BlackBerry Storm3 if the rumors turn out to be true?
